Cesare Zavattini was an Italian screenwriter, journalist, playwright, novelist, poet and painter. In the film industry, Zavattini is considered one of the most important figures of Italian neorealism, of which he was also a theoretician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A typical character of the Bassa, the surreal flat land along the river Po, he was a man of many faces, who also worked for a while at the local newspaper, Gazzetta di Parma, and as a teacher.
Among his pupils: famous film critic Pietrino Bianchi, writer Giovannino Guareschi, inventor of Peppone and Don Camillo, and the poet Attilio Bertolucci.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zavattini went to Cuba in 1953, in 1958 and in 1959. In 1959 he wrot the subject for the movie El joven rebelde directed by Julio Garc\u00eca Espinosa.
