Weekend in Parma with kids

Let's start this itinerary for the young tourists walking around the historic center. It will be an opportunity to get to know the city and become a kid again with your children.

Let's start from the Castle of the Puppets, a stone's throw from the Duomo and from the central Via Cavour: located inside the former Benedictine convent, the museum offers a unique variety of puppets and marionettes, a unique and magical place to discover local characters and browse among old memories.

From here we move to the nearby Palazzo della Pilotta where in the new wing of the Archaeological Museum the little ones can immerse themselves in the fascinating and mysterious history of ancient Egypt.

Leaving the museum, to lighten the spirit and stretch the legs, we head towards the Ducal Park where kids will discover the favorite entertainment of the Parmesan youngest to spend the sunny spring and summer afternoons: here are the Grilli! Small colored carts with wheels on which your kid will have a lot of fun.

Also at the Parco Ducale you will also find a small playground, with a train and rides.
Then to end the day, we propose a stop in the beautiful playground of the Parco della Cittadella, the beautiful park on the edge of the historic center, where kids of all ages can play, jump on the nets, go on rides while the older ones will be able to take advantage of the refreshment points, in the shade of the large trees. On the way, however, do not forget the ice cream break, there is no shortage of ice cream parlors and ice cream, you know, is an excellent snack in Parma too!

The second day, after a short tour of the historic center where children can have fun and go in search of "animals" among the cultural sites of Parma, a play break will be a must!

In Piazza Duomo, outside the Baptistery, the Zoophore by Benedetto Antelami is a series of seventy-five panels carved in bas-relief in the pink marble of Verona and outside the Cathedral two large marble lions, sculpted in 1281 by Giambono da Bissone, support the columns on which an archivolt rests. Of course, it is worth visiting these places inside, with their frescoes and their beautiful sculptures that amaze young and old.

If you are passionate of legends, let your children find the unusual footprints on the side of the Baptistery; a mysterious story will captivate them; learn more about the Devil's footprint.

Not far away, with a visit planned in advance, you could add a visit to the renovated Must - Natural History Museum, a real journey through naturalistic collections, mainly zoological and paleontological.

Between one stop and the next of this itinerary, you can also play talking with the talking statues! They are the Talking teens who will take you on a journey through time into the memory of the city, into the history of the country.
