Parma Bike Full Immersion

A true full immersion to discover the Province of Parma by bike... From the Bassa Parmense to the Parma Hills through unusual and surprising itineraries
1st Day
Independent arrival in Parma. Accommodation at the selected facility. Possible collection of the rental bike.
Welcome dinner and overnight stay.

2nd Day – Parmigiano-Reggiano and Parma by bike
The first day by bike is dedicated to the most famous gastronomic product of the area together with Parma Ham, or the King of Cheeses: Parmigiano-Reggiano.
And then... Parma is a city made for cycling! It is the ideal way to discover the ducal city. Its parks, its monuments, its history and its charm, pedal after pedal.
• Half-day tour with a visit to a dairy to see the production of Parmigiano Reggiano DOP,
• tour of the city by bike,
• outdoor picnic at the community gardens to taste our typical products in an unusual way, or more comfortably in a delicatessen in the historic center of Parma.

Day 3 - By bike from Parma to Torrechiara
The second day of discovery of the Parma area by bike is dedicated to its most famous castle: from the city, in fact, you will reach the wonderful Torrechiara Castle, home of great loves and stories full of suggestion.
We start from Via Langhirano. In Vigatto, in the Church of San Pietro, you can admire paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, and in front of the church, Villa Meli Lupi surrounded by its beautiful park.
Continuing along the route you will notice other interesting villas such as Palazzo Mutti, Villa Ghia, which dates back to the end of the 16th century and, in Pannocchia, Villa Rognoni.
Continuing straight you will reach the Benedictine Abbey of Torrechiara. 1 km away, the splendid Castle, immersed in a medieval village, stands out for its majesty on a hill from which you can enjoy a truly suggestive panorama.
The return to Parma takes place along the same route.
Visit and lunch/tasting at a winery producing Colli di Parma DOC wines with a wonderful panoramic view of the castle and the hills covered with vineyards.
Return in the afternoon, rest of the day free. Free dinner and overnight stay.

4th Day - Cycling in the land of Don Camillo and Peppone
This day will see the flat lands of Don Camillo and Peppone as protagonists, immersed in nature in direct contact with the Great River.
We start from Via Mantova taking the avenue leading to the Certosa.
After passing the level crossing, we cross the provincial road to Sorbolo and enter the Chiozzola road. We pass Ramoscello and continue until the deviation for Sorbolo.
Once we arrive in San Sisto, we continue towards Brescello along the Mola embankment. We thus arrive at Godezza and Brescello, where we recommend a visit to the Don Camillo Museum.
At a small dock, we cross a small iron pedestrian bridge that leads to the banks of the Po.
Following towards Colorno, we continue until the bridge over the Enza and reach Coenzo.
From here, we can return to Sorbolo, or we can take the embankment of the Terrieri canal and continue towards Frassinara, Ravadese and Sorbolo.
Free lunch in one of the trattorias in Brescello or a packed lunch. Free dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 – Towards the Boschi di Carrega on two wheels
Today we head back south towards the hill. A route dedicated to nature and silence with halfway in the most beautiful park in the province south of Parma, to admire rare examples of local flora and spot some deer.
We start from Via Baganza, we travel along it between cultivated fields and farmhouses, at times along the bank of the stream.
From here to Sala Baganza where you can visit the Rocca Sanvitale, built in 1254.
We continue towards the Boschi di Carrega, a true jewel of the local flora and fauna. We recommend reaching the Renzo Levati Center and taking advantage of the guided tours at the Casino dei boschi.

In the afternoon we then continue to Felino, across the bridge over the Baganza and turn left to San Ruffino and Gaione where the Romanesque parish church is worth a visit and then return to Parma.
Return in the afternoon, rest of the day free. Free dinner and overnight stay.

6th Day - Towards Talignano along the Via Francigena by bike
The last day of discovery ends beautifully by retracing the pilgrimage route of early medieval Christianity towards Rome, the Via Francigena, also known in ancient times as Via Romea, which develops along a path marked by churches, convents and hospices.
This itinerary proposes the route along the first stretch, the one closest to the city, but if you want, with more days available, you can continue it, passing from municipality to municipality, until reaching Berceto.
We start from Piazzale Barbieri, then reaching Vicofertile where it is possible to visit the Romanesque church dedicated to San Gemignano which dates back to the 12th century.
We then continue towards Collecchio, where you can visit the Church of San Prospero.
We then proceed to Talignano where there is the ancient parish church built in 1200, with an adjoining hospice for pilgrims who travelled along the Via Francigena. Noteworthy is the lunette that overlooks the portal depicting the psychostasis or weighing of souls.
Free lunch, rest of the afternoon free. Farewell dinner in the center of Parma and overnight stay.

7th Day
Check-out and end of services.

- No penalty up to 8 days before the tour;
- From 7 to 3 days before the tour: 50% penalty;
- 48 hours before the tour: 70% penalty;
- 24 hours before the tour: 100% penalty.
